New IMO-Vega online and offline versions

The database contains updated and consolidated IMO documents including resolutions from the Assembly 31st session, MEPC committee 75th session, MSC committee 102nd session - and circulars and interpretations including April 2021.

Relevant for Design offices, shipyards, suppliers, owners/managers, flag states of all ship types. 


The IMO-Vega database

IMO-Vega is a searchable database of the regulation text of the SOLAS, MARPOL, Load Line conventions and other conventions, and codes such as ISM, ISPS, 2000 HSC Code, IBC Code, and much more.

In this release, i.a. parts of MARPOL Annex VI, SOLAS Chapter II-1, Other Conventions; BWM, Mandatory Codes; IMDG, IGC, IGF, CSS, STCW Pt.B and Other Codes; TDC were all renewed.

Further, both explanatory notes and interpretations to SOLAS Chapter II-1, as well as evaluation and test report forms for LSA were renewed, and interim guidelines on the second generation intact stability criteria were published.

In last release (October 2020), adopted resolution and circulars from the extraordinary session September 2020, due to the COVID‑19 pandemic, was presented.

Forthcoming amendments to the mandatory conventions and codes are highlighted in green. Ref. Table of Contents > IMO requirements by enter into force date.

IMO sub-committee on navigation, communications, search and rescue

The 9th session of the IMO’s Sub-committee on Navigation, Communications, Search and Rescue (NCSR 9) was held from 21 to 30 June. Navigation and voyage planning requirements for fishing vessels, pleasure yachts and small cargo ships operating in polar waters were finalized, as well as requirements to make inclinometers for the measurement of heel angles compulsory for container ships and bulk carriers. The performance standards for ECDIS were revised to accommodate the next generation of electronic navigational charts.

IMO update: Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC 78)

The 78th session of the IMO’s Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC 78) was held remotely from 6 to 10 June 2022. Highlights included the finalization of technical guidelines for the upcoming EEXI, CII and SEEMP regulations; approval of a proposal for a sulphur emission control area (SECA) in the Mediterranean Sea; and further discussions on the revision of the IMO GHG Strategy scheduled for 2023, and future technical and market-based measures.
